REFORMER Pilates ATHLETIC LAB
Skate stronger. Stay on the ice longer.
Athletic Lab is a small-group reformer program engineered to build the strength, power, mobility, and injury resilience that hockey players and multi-sport athletes actually need on game day.
This isn't traditional Pilates. It's precision training for athletes.
Most reformer classes are built for a general audience moving at a general pace. Athletic Lab is engineered around what actually transfers to the ice: core strength under load, hip stability through rotation, balance under fatigue, and explosive control when it matters most.

What you'll build over 8 weeks
Bulletproof core
Deep stability you can hold through contact, edges, and shots — not just plank time.
Hip stability & mobility
The single biggest driver of stride power and the most common breakdown point. We rebuild it.
Single-leg balance
Every stride is a single-leg movement. We train it the way it actually shows up.
Explosive control
Power isn't useful if you can't control it. We train both ends of the spectrum.
Injury resilience
Groin pulls, hip flexor strains, and low back. Most of it is preventable with the right work.
Real, trackable progress
A true 8-week progression with measurable benchmarks. You'll feel the shift by week 3.

JOANNA GRITSAS
Lead Instructor, ATHLETIC LAB
Joanna brings over a decade of experience as a Level 4 Essentrics trainer and is currently completing her Pilates Reformer certification. She blends dynamic flexibility with mindful strength to deliver sessions that are challenging and restorative in the same breath.
Her work spans a wide range of clients, including elite athletes, helping them build balanced, resilient bodies that hold up over a long career. With Athletic Lab, her goal is to bring that same standard to the Olympia community — guiding athletes toward strength that supports both longevity and on-ice performance.
"I want every athlete who walks in to leave moving better than they did the week before. That's the whole job."

QUESTIONS Athletes Actually Ask
I’ve never done Reformer Pilates before. Will I be lost?
No. With only four athletes per class, Joanna walks every new person through the machine and adjusts each exercise to your level. The 8-week progression is designed to start where you are and build from there. If you can train, you can do this.
What if i have to miss a session?
Life happens — tournaments, school, travel. Reach out in advance, and we'll do our best to slot you into another class that week if there's space. Because spots are capped at four, makeups aren't always possible, but we'll work with you.
Will this actually help my hockey, or is this just stretching?
It's not stretching. The reformer loads your body through resistance, instability, and full ranges of motion — exactly the demands of skating. We target hip stability, single-leg control, deep core, and rotational power, all of which directly transfer to stride length, edge work, and shot strength.
Should I do this in-season or off-season?
Both work — they just look different. Off-season, you can push the 2x/week tier and build a meaningful capacity bump before camp. In-season, the 1x/week tier is the move: enough to keep mobility, stability, and recovery on track without adding fatigue on top of practices and games.
What should I wear and bring?
Fitted athletic gear (loose shorts catch on the springs), grippy socks, and a water bottle. That's it. Reformers and all equipment are provided.
Is there an age range?
Athletic Lab is built for serious athletes, from competitive teen players through adult rec and beer-league players who want to keep playing at a high level. If you're a younger athlete, reach out, and we'll talk through the right fit.
I'm dealing with a nagging injury. Should I still join?
Often, yes — reformer work is one of the best tools for rebuilding after hip, groin, and low back issues because it loads movement gradually and with control. If you're cleared to train and you let us know what's going on, Joanna will modify around it. If you're working through an acute injury, see your physio or doctor first.
What's the refund and cancellation policy?
Because spots are limited to four per class, payment secures the full 8-week block. If something serious comes up before the cohort starts, get in touch — we'll work with you to either transfer your spot or credit a future cohort. Once the 8 weeks are underway, the block is non-refundable.
The class I want is full. Now what?
Join the waitlist. We move people in as spots open and as new times come online. Waitlist athletes get first pick before we open the next cohort to the public.
